The latest Forever Young Treehouse is complete. The 900 square-foot treehouse is suspended above the ground at The Retreat at Candlelight Ranch overlooking Lake Travis. Thanks to 130 feet of wheel chair ramps, elevated walkways and four rest platforms, anyone young (or young-at-heart) with a desire to sit among the treetops can make their dream come true.

"When we created The Retreat at Candlelight Ranch, we envisioned a place where kids can be kids," said Don Barr, founder of Candlelight Ranch. "What better way to accomplish that goal than by building a treehouse that any kid, regardless of any physical disability, can scale."

The treehouse is the latest addition to The Retreat at Candlelight Ranch, a refuge for kids with special needs. Candlelight Ranch is a non-profit organization which provides outdoor, educational and recreational programs for chronically and terminally ill, physically disabled, low-income and at-risk children. The treehouse was completed just in time for summer.

The Retreat at Candlelight Ranch sits on the north side of Lake Travis, off Highway 1431, between Lago Vista and Marble Falls. The ranch is available free-of-charge to non-profit groups who serve kids with special needs. Groups that have used the ranch include Austin Children's Shelter, Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation, Austin Area Interreligious Ministries, River City Youth Foundation, Lago Vista ISD and Children's Hospital of Austin.
